Baro Wine is located on a windy ridge in the easternmost reach of the Columbia Gorge American Viticultural Area in Washington State.
Our unique microclimate and aspect results in a small area of high barometric pressure (the origin of Baro as our name) around the estate, often directing rain and moisture around us. Frequent strong and dry winds during the growing season force our vines to reach deep and grow strong. The dry winds also create an inhospitable environment for oidium and mildew, allowing us to farm as naturally and gently as possible.
Farming this way allows us to approach winemaking in a similar fashion, utilizing a low intervention mindset in all aspects. Fermentation is allowed to take place naturally with minimal sulfur, leading to a slower and more gentle vinification process with increased complexity and a distinct sense of place kept intact in each wine.
We take pride in our wines and hope you will enjoy them in good company.
